Its story
80 Piscium lies only 115 light-years away, a modest distance on stellar scales that makes it a relatively close cosmic neighbour. It is a yellow-white F-class subgiant, slightly hotter and more energetic than the Sun, having begun the slow evolution beyond its main-sequence youth. Its light, kindled around the end of the 20th century, arrives today nearly intact after a journey that is brief by galactic standards but spans almost an entire human lifetime.
