Variable starIts story
15 Vulpeculae is a white A-type star in the small Vulpecula —Hevelius's Little Fox— some 236 light-years away. It pulses with slight variations in brightness, that faint, rapid breathing typical of young, hot stars that have not yet settled into balance. Seeing it in detail calls for binoculars: it glows just south of Sagitta, along a strip threaded by the milky band of the summer Milky Way.
