Its story
31 Vulpeculae shines some 189 light-years away in Vulpecula, the little fox that Hevelius sketched between Cygnus and Aquila in the 17th century. It is an evolved G-type star, an older sibling of the Sun beginning to swell toward giant status. The constellation is faint and starless of bright luminaries, which makes this star one of the most visible beacons in a quiet corner of the summer sky.
