Variable starIts story
2 Vulpeculae is one of the more distant and dramatic stars of the little Fox, a modern constellation Hevelius drew hunting a goose. A massive, hot B-type star, it varies in brightness with the slow rhythm characteristic of blue giants. Its light begins a journey of more than twelve hundred years before reaching here —it set out when Charlemagne still ruled the Holy Roman Empire.
