What is Nu Piscium
An orange giant on the northern edge of Pisces, 363 light-years away in that strip of sky where the ancients saw two fish joined by a ribbon. Its warm light reaches us from a time before the first modern universities were founded, crossing a stretch of the galaxy that feels close to us today and was unreachable then. Already settled into nuclear maturity, it glows quietly among the faint stars that trace the most sprawling — and the most diluted — of the zodiacal signs.
Where it is and when to see it
Nu Piscium lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is October: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
