Its story

It dwells in the constellation Puppis, the stern of the ancient ship Argo. Its white light has travelled 197 years; it set out when Beethoven was still composing his late sonatas and the first steam locomotives began crossing England. An A-class star, it shines with clean tones and a temperature well above that of the Sun —a symbol of the seafaring regions of the southern sky.
