This blue light left Auriga around the year 1336, when the Hundred Years' War between France and England was beginning and Florence was becoming the cradle of the Renaissance. It is a B-type star, hot and bluish-white, very luminous. The Charioteer —with the bright Capella in its pentagon— has long been seen as a driver holding a goat and her kids.
Where it is and when to see it
HIP 25291 lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is December: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
