In the Toucan shines at 314.3 light years a yellowish class G star, a distant sibling of the Sun. Its light began its journey around 1712, while Bach was composing in Weimar the first scores that would cement his European reputation. A discreet star —neither too hot nor too cold— of familiar golden tone, easy to imagine as a sun contemplated from another world.
Where it is and when to see it
HIP 115769 lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is August: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
