Its story
Gamma Tucanae inhabits the southern Toucan constellation, close neighbor of the Small Magellanic Cloud. It is an F-type star about 75 light-years away, slightly hotter and whiter than the Sun, near enough to allow detailed study of its stellar properties. In the southern sky it marks a region rich in extragalactic objects visible to the naked eye.
