Its story
In the small constellation of Tucana gleams an orange K-type star, a coppery dot of the southern sky. Its light departed two hundred and ninety years ago, when Fahrenheit was fixing his temperature scale and science was learning to count the heat of the world. Cooler than the Sun, its glow arrives like a tempered ember in the southern night. Each spark recalls an age when measuring everything became, at last, possible.
