2 Piscium is a K-type orange star at the western end of Pisces, where the Fishes approach Aquarius along the zodiac. At around 299 light-years, its light has been on its way since the late Enlightenment, when knowledge of the sky was first being systematised in great European catalogues. A discreet star, hovering near the limit of what an unaided eye can perceive from a truly dark sky.

2 Piscium lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is September, when it culminates around midnight.

It sits almost on the celestial equator, so it can be seen from nearly the whole planet.
