Its story
14 Vulpeculae is a yellow-white F-type star in the Little Fox, the discreet figure Hevelius placed in the seventeenth century between the Swan and the Eagle, with no ornament beyond its Latin name. At 160 light-years, an astronomically moderate distance, its light departed around 1866, when Mendel was publishing in Brno the results of his pea-plant crosses that would later found modern genetics.
