Its story
Lambda Telescopii is a late blue-white star with an iron-enriched atmosphere—about 55 percent more metal-rich than the Sun and still chemically young. It spins quickly, at roughly 110 km/s, and has much of its main-sequence life still ahead of it. It shines at 612 light-years inside Telescopium, another of the constellations Lacaille added to the southern sky in tribute to the instrument that revealed it.
