What is HIP 91989
From the Southern Crown, some 1,305 light-years away, comes the light of this orange type K star. It set out around the year 720, when Irish monasteries illuminated manuscripts as if weaving endless knots. Much larger and more luminous than the Sun yet cooler, it glows with an ancient amber tone within a small crown the southern sky places delicately at the feet of Sagittarius.

HIP 91989 lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is July: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
