What is HIP 91013

Coiled within the long body of circumpolar Draco, an orange K-type star shines about 638 light-years away. Its light set out around 1388, as Chaucer was drafting his «Canterbury Tales» in Middle English. Cooler than the Sun, it offers the amber glow of stars that have already walked much of their path.

Where it is and when to see it

HIP 91013 lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is July: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
