Variable star

Its story

On the back of the Dragon, this blue-white B-type star reveals a subtle variability that telescopes only learn to read over time. Its light set out 671 years ago, around 1353, in the midst of Europe's devastation by the Black Death. Far hotter and more massive than the Sun, it oscillates as though breathing: a young star whose fate —explosive, brilliant— is already inscribed in its chemistry. The constellation winds onward, and she lends it a blue heartbeat.
