What is Rho Coronae Borealis

Rho Coronae Borealis is a sun-like yellow star at 56 light-years, and ranks among the first sun-like stars in which an extrasolar planet was confirmed, in the late 1990s. Today several worlds are credited to its orbit, making it one of the best-studied planetary systems in the immediate solar neighbourhood within the Northern Crown.

Where it is and when to see it

Rho Coronae Borealis lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is May: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
