What is Rho Coronae Borealis

Rho Coronae Borealis is a sun-like yellow star at 56 light-years, and ranks among the first sun-like stars in which an extrasolar planet was confirmed, in the late 1990s. Today several worlds are credited to its orbit, making it one of the best-studied planetary systems in the immediate solar neighbourhood within the Northern Crown.

Rho Coronae Borealis lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is May, when it culminates around midnight.

From London it culminates about 72° above the horizon.
From New York it culminates about 83° above the horizon.
From Sydney it culminates about 23° above the horizon.

It can be seen from anywhere north of 57° S.
