What is 80 Virginis
80 Virginis is a yellow star about three hundred and seventeen light-years away, an elder sister of the Sun in colour and G spectral class. The difference is age and size: it has already begun leaving the stability of its youth and is preparing for a transformation lasting millions of years. The constellation of the Virgin, one of the broadest of the zodiac, offers a discreet backdrop to its golden light.

80 Virginis lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is April: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
