Hot blue starIts story
108 Virginis is a hot B-type blue star 494 light-years away, set on the eastern edge of the celestial Virgin. Its light, far more energetic than the Sun's, set out while Luther was still nailing his theses in Wittenberg. It belongs to the band of massive suns whose brief and fierce youth often ends in supernova: they shine for a short time, but they shine immensely.
