Variable starIts story
A variable red giant in Virgo, the cosmic maiden. Its light has been travelling for 492 years: it left when Magellan was completing the first circumnavigation of the globe and Charles V ruled an empire where —it was said— the sun never set. An M-class star, cool and dilated, its brightness changes in a slow rhythm, the result of pulsations in its already aged atmosphere.
