Its story
40 Leonis Minoris is a white A4 main-sequence star about 158 light-years away —relatively close by this batch's standards. A 2005 study of its proper motion using Hipparcos data uncovered variations that led Eggleton and Tokovinin to classify it as an astrometric binary: it hides a companion whose tug betrays its presence. Three further optical companions, physically unrelated, round out its apparent setting in the small Leo Minor constellation.
