Cool red starIts story
8 Leonis Minoris is an M-type red giant 480 light-years away, set inside the modest Little Lion that Hevelius drew between Leo and the Great Bear. Its cool atmosphere tints the light a deep red, almost like a dimmed ember. When that photon set out, Columbus had not yet sailed: the light crossed the entire modern age to reach us.
