What is Omicron 2 Cancri
Omicron-2 Cancri is a yellow-white F-type star some 150 light-years away, in the modest constellation of the Crab. Cancer is famous for hosting the open cluster Praesepe, the Beehive, one of the closest to the Sun; the omicron stars sit in another region of the crustacean, far from that swarm. Its modest naked-eye light contributes to the faint but ancient outline of one of the zodiac signs.
Where it is and when to see it
Omicron 2 Cancri lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is February: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
