Its story
Upsilon-1 Cancri is a yellow-white F-type star in the Crab about 250 light-years away. It forms an optical pair with Upsilon-2, sketching within the constellation one of those small pairings that the trained eye reads as a single double-jewel in an otherwise quiet region. Cancer, crossed in antiquity by the Sun at the very moment of the summer solstice, still keeps something of its old air as a pivotal constellation, even though precession has slid the precise solstitial point century after century.
