Its story
Within Puppis, the Stern of the ancient Ship Argo, shines an A-type white star 573 light-years away. Its light set out around 1453, the year Constantinople fell and the long chapter of the Byzantine Empire closed. Hotter and more luminous than the Sun, it spills a white radiance across the imaginary waters of the vessel that the ancients sailed through the southern sky.
