Puppis again, and again a light arriving from a very different journey: orange, class K, cooler than the Sun and vaguely golden. Its photon began the road 246 years ago, when Lavoisier was framing his table of chemical elements and chemistry was leaving alchemy behind to become a science. This coppery ember, meanwhile, kept burning right where it stands.
