Hot blue starIts story
On the stern of the ship Argo, now called Puppis, burns a blue type B star —young, massive and far hotter than the Sun. Its light took roughly 1,640 years to cross the void: it set out when the Roman Empire was collapsing under Germanic invasions and the first copyist monks were beginning to save the classical texts in Ireland. It now arrives as a cold flash, a blue echo of an ancient world long extinguished.
