Its story

A yellow G-type star, close cousin to the Sun in temperature and colour, glows quietly within Puppis. Its light has only travelled some eighty years: it began when astronomers were starting to decipher stellar spectra and to grasp that the same chemical laws applied in every corner of the universe. To look at it is to look at a Sun set at an unimaginable distance, silent and steady, returning a familiar glow to an unfamiliar sky.
