25 Monocerotis is an F6 giant classified as a Delta Scuti variable, a family of fast pulsators that oscillate on timescales of hours. It belongs to a visual multiple system and is receding from the Sun at 46 km per second. Its yellow-white light shines in the celestial Unicorn from 220 light-years, having set out shortly after the founding of Boston.
