What is 64 Geminorum
64 Geminorum is a white A-type star 176 light-years away, lit within the body of the celestial Twins. Outshone by the fame of Castor and Pollux, it shares the same winter sky territory, that stretch where the Milky Way crosses the brothers' interlocked silhouette. Its light has been travelling since the late nineteenth century.
Where it is and when to see it
64 Geminorum lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is January: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
