Its story
57 Geminorum is a yellow G8 giant well past its youth: swollen to about seven times the Sun's radius, it shines roughly thirty times brighter from 159 light-years away. It surfaces at magnitude 5.04 on the eastern edge of Gemini, where Castor and Pollux command the stage. Around 1.2 billion years old, it has burned through its core hydrogen and begun the slow expansion of maturity.
