Its story
64 Aurigae burns about 278 light-years away in Auriga, the pentagonal constellation crowned by Capella. A white A-type star, hotter and more luminous than the Sun, young by stellar standards and tinted with the bluish hue of its class. Modest to the unaided eye, it nestles in a winter sky region scattered with open clusters such as M36, M37 and M38.
