Its story
47 Aurigae is an orange giant 611 light-years away in the Charioteer, glowing at magnitude 5.88 right at the edge of naked-eye visibility. Its K type paints it cold gold, a star that has already burned through the hydrogen in its core and swollen to light the sky with an only apparent warmth —its surface is markedly cooler than the Sun's. An orange spark inside the Charioteer's pentagon.
