Auriga, the charioteer of the sky, supports this white A-type variable, young and hot. Its light set out around 1763, when the Treaty of Paris was signed, ending the Seven Years War and redrawing colonial empires. It pulses still, 263 years later, as if remembering how the world has been parcelled out.
