Hot blue starIts story
53 Aurigae is a hot blue B-type star lying some three hundred and fifty light-years away, in the constellation of the Charioteer, which on winter nights rises high above the northern horizon. Its light departed around the time Newton was publishing his Principia, laying down the laws that still describe the motion of the stars today. It shines discreetly, yet its cold hue recalls the immense energy sustaining its atmosphere.
