53 Piscium flickers faintly across the broad field of the Fishes, a hot blue B-type star whose light has been travelling more than a thousand years before reaching us. It set out toward the close of the first millennium, when the Iberian kingdoms lived along their medieval frontier. Its subtle variability matches that of massive stars pulsing at the rhythm of their own restless atmospheres.
