68 Eridani is an F2V main-sequence star roughly 83 light-years away —one of the closest in this batch. It burns hotter than the Sun, with an effective temperature near 6,280 K, and appears in the Gliese catalogue of nearby stars as Gliese 189.2. Visible to the unaided eye under dark skies, it drifts across the sands of Eridanus, the River that meanders south from the feet of Orion.
