Variable star

Its story

66 Eridani is a B-type variable star some 309 light-years away, embedded in the long celestial channel of the river Eridanus. Its hot, blue-tinted atmosphere flickers gently near magnitude 5.12, a pulsation only photometric monitoring reveals clearly. Eridanus winds from the feet of Orion toward the south, and among its many stellar meanders this blue variable adds a kinetic note to the flowing river of light.
