What is Angetenar
Angetenar is a K-class orange giant in Eridanus, the long celestial river meandering southward from Orion. Her name derives from the Arabic «al-nahr al-tāʾir», 'the bend of the river', a literal nod to celestial geography. At 187 light-years, her light departed when Napoleon was proclaiming himself emperor in Paris: a human distance measured in stories.
Where it is and when to see it
Angetenar lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is October: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
