Zibal

Its story

Zibal is a white class-A star burning 109 light-years away in Eridanus, the long celestial river meandering through the southern sky. Its name, of uncertain probably Arabic origin, survived in the catalogues as a mere geographic label: a point among the many bends of the stellar stream. Eridanus is the sixth largest constellation in the firmament, and Zibal serves as one of its modest buoys, marking the quiet flow between brighter banks.
