What is HIP 12413
Along the celestial river of Eridanus shines this white type A star, some 116 light-years away. Its light set out around 1909, when Bleriot crossed the English Channel in a fragile monoplane and the air ceased to be a border. Hotter and more luminous than the Sun, it flows discreetly through the curves of the long southern river the ancients imagined spilling from the foot of Orion.
Where it is and when to see it
HIP 12413 lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is October, when it culminates around midnight.

- From Sydney it culminates about 81° above the horizon.
It can be seen from anywhere south of 47° N.
