White and gently variable, this A-type star of Aries rides the spring-sky ram. Its light took 397 years to cross the void: it set out around 1629, while Velázquez was painting his first Sevillian still-lifes and Spanish painting was learning to let light slip in through the cracks.

HIP 13121 lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is November: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
