Its story
1 Arietis is an orange K-type star set against the first stroke of the Ram, one of the inaugural stars Flamsteed numbered in the constellation. From around 586 light-years its magnitude 5.83 corresponds to a body intrinsically hundreds of times more luminous than the Sun, a giant with a cool surface and warm tint. The light arriving tonight left its atmosphere in the early 15th century, when Arabic astrolabes were still the leading instrument.
