Its story
49 Arietis is a white A-type star in the Ram, that small zodiacal constellation which once marked the spring equinox and has since drifted through the precession of the equinoxes. Hotter than the Sun, it shines a clean, sharp white. From 210 light-years —an astronomically close distance— the light arriving tonight set out around 1816, the so-called «year without a summer» that followed the Tambora eruption.
