What is Omega Piscium
Omega Piscium marks the point where the celestial cord ties together the two fishes of the constellation, exactly where the old iconography places the knot that binds them. It is a yellow-white subgiant, slightly hotter than the Sun and roughly twenty-two times more luminous, drifting toward the end of its maturity. Its light set out a little over a century ago, around 1920, before crossing 104 light years to meet our eyes.

Omega Piscium lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is September, when it culminates around midnight.

- From Sydney it culminates about 49° above the horizon.
It can be seen from anywhere north of 83° S.
It ranks no. 4 in brightness among the 79 stars of Pisces in our catalogue. To find it, start from Alpherg, the brightest: it lies about 24° away (a fist at arm's length covers about 10°).
