κ Piscium is a white star with gentle variations in brightness, belonging to the Circlet of Pisces, the delicate ring of suns that forms the head of one of the two zodiacal fishes. Its A type radiates a clean light, slightly hotter than the Sun. It belongs to one of the most ancient constellations of the zodiac, already described by the Babylonians more than two thousand five hundred years ago.
Where it is and when to see it
Kappa Piscium lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is September: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
