What is Mu Piscium
Mu Piscium is an orange giant some 304 light-years away in the constellation of the fishes, that zigzagging ribbon that closes the zodiac. Its light —typical of mature K stars— appears modestly in a sky region thinly populated by bright stars. It marks one of the knots of the imaginary cord that ties the two fishes by the tail.
Where it is and when to see it
Mu Piscium lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is October: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
