What is 66 Aquarii

66 Aquarii burns 433 light-years away, an orange giant swollen to roughly thirty-seven times the Sun's radius. Its light, four hundred times more intense than the Sun's, set out when Galileo first pointed his glass to the stars. It is listed among suspected variables as NSV 14291: it pulses faintly, almost imperceptibly, like so many mature giants of the Aquarian sky.

Where it is and when to see it

66 Aquarii lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is August: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
