What is Bunda
Bunda takes its name from an old Arabic lunar mansion, one of the divisions medieval astronomers made of the Moon's monthly path among the stars. It shines in Aquarius, the celestial water-bearer, and is a white A-class star about 179 light-years away. Its light has been crossing space since the years just before Mozart was born in Salzburg.
Where it is and when to see it
Bunda lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is August: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
