Variable star

Its story

31 Pegasi is a blue B-type giant lying over 1,620 light-years away, one of the most distant naked-eye stars in this region. Its brightness wavers slightly —internal pulsations make it a variable— and it shapes part of the winged horse galloping across the autumn sky. The light reaching us today set out around the fourth century of our era.
